Abstrac

The purpose of this paper is to present an information system to support the management of research on a web platform builded using a specific methodology. It's added value resides in making use of all the potential that Internet offers for increasing collaborative work and decreasing the bureaucracy inherent to the management of the activities performed in the research environment. The conventional methodologies for the system design and construction are tested each time a change is produced in the technological platform on which they operate. This is happening today with systems built on Internet with access to databases. Although the planning and analysis phases are not really affected, the design and construction phases are. This phase that was limited to data and process modeling, must now incorporate presentational and navigational modeling given the growing relevancy that graphic presentation has, the length of response, and the ease of navigation when the systems are on a web platform. The applied methodology collects unified modeling language (UML) extensions directed to hypermedia applications that are not dealt with by the conventional methodologies associated with lifecycles.
