With the certainty that the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) potentiate the capacity of people with disabilities; the Dirección General de Cómputo y de Tecnologías de Información y Comunicación, DGTIC (Computer, Information and Communication Technologies General Center) is working on the project TIC para la inclusión (ICT for inclusion), through which has been involved in the problems faced by the university, which are providing advice or support to people with disabilities. Based on this, DGTIC has become an active agent for the dissemination of disability culture, increasing awareness, advice on the subject, as well as the provision of ICT services for this population.

TIC para la inclusión was created with the aim to provide innovating solutions that promote the inclusion of people with visual, motor and hearing impairment to the social and labor fields, training them about use and application of technological tools. With this purpose, we adapted and launched the Aula-Laboratorio de Innovación para Personas con Discapacidad (Innovation for people with disabilities Lab – Classroom), a place that has been used for varied activities to achieve the project goal.

The activities have been carried out in a short term in order to analyze the requirements and implications of proposing some support based on ICT, based on this, actions have been focused on two main lines: training and dissemination.

Workshops, courses, and different activities were designed for training about using and exploiting technologies. In the dissemination line, series of conferences were created with proposals aimed to link technology and disability for the teaching-learning process, development, inclusion and people with disabilities quality of life improvement, at the same time, those conferences guide and increase awareness of the audience about disability. In addition, this project looks for creating lines of research and innovation in ICT, promoting an inclusive University.
