Presents an introductory material, with scientific rigour, which is focused on various issues on the characterization of materials, nanomaterials and catalysts. The book from which the information is extracted consists of 190 pages and 50 figures that exemplify the application of different analytical techniques. This book provides an introduction to the analytical techniques and common methods for the characterization of materials, nanomaterials and catalysts (organic, inorganic and biological). First shows the adsorption-desorption techniques of gases (N2, CO2, H2, CO and H2O) and X-ray diffraction; furthermore, spectroscopic techniques are discussed: electron paramagnetic resonance, nuclear magnetic resonance with magic angle spinning, infrared spectroscopy and Raman spectroscopy; additionally, thermal techniques are presented, as well as electron microscopy (transmission and scanning) and, finally, described microscopy and atomic force tunnel.

Each technique is detailed information obtained, the type of material that can be applied, explains the fundamental theoretical aspects, instrumentation, some mathematical methods used to obtain diffraction patterns, isotherms, etc. At last, to get familiar with the nomenclature of each analytical technique, is described and discussed some examples of results of the characterization of materials, nanomaterials and catalysts, indicating in each of them the parameters obtained and their interpretation.
