ABSTRACT
The foam in three poems
Alicia García Bergua
The Word “foam” appears to be a natural part of poetry. Nevertheless, its presence in a lot of poems doesn’t have the place of the words “tiger” or “rose”. In every poem, the word “rose” has different meanings that are interesting to explore. In this essay, I tend to identify what happens to this word in three very different poems: “Nocturna rosa”, from Xavier Villaurrutia; “Aquí vivimos”, from Pablo Neruda, and “Aquí yace la espuma”, written by Jorge Carrera Andrade.
Keywords: Villaurrutia, Neruda, Carrera Andrade, Valery, Jorge Guillén, modern poetry, rose, foam, symbolism, modernism, poetry movement.
