ABSTRACT

Science Communications and the public: do you really want to be successful?

Maria Emilia Beyer Ruiz

Measuring the real impact that science communication has in Mexican society is a complex task. For decades, science communicators consider that broad audiences does not necessarily guarantee a successful experience, since the public understanding of scientific messages can be quite superficial. But even if the latest is correct, we haven´t developed efficient techniques for measuring impacts in science communication; therefore, a huge event is almost by definition, a successful one. From this perspective, the author will review three massive shows given by actor Paul Zaloom, otherwise known as Beakman, who performed in Mexico City in 2014.
