ABSTRACT

Paleontoart: Imagining with Limits

The palaeoart, or rather paleontoart, is a discipline that represents the past life, considering its scientific and artistic aspects. This article analyzes the meaning of the paleontoart, as well as the main works linked to the Mesozoic fauna (especially dinosaurs) that emerged along with the first paleontological discoveries. Since then, perception of these animals has changed, particularly after of period known as The Second Renaissance during the second half of the past century. In this text, there are also some technical aspects of the creative process of a paleoillustration and its importance as a resource of science divulgation discussed.
