ABSTRACT

Science in Sor Juana Life's Work

David Galicia Lechuga

The Baroque and Classical World granted a big importance to the existance of the universality of knowledge in poetry. Sor Juana was admired precisely for this quality, reflected in her works that exploited poetically the scientific knowledge. This paper shows the admiration that Sor Juana recieved among her contemporarys, as well as her own-confessed tendency to knowledge. Likewise, this work explores the means in which the novohispanic poetess used the medical, astronomical and metheorological knowledge to create a rich and profoundly poetical life's work.
