ABSTRACT

Reading and writing as a space of necessities for continue training on higher education

Silvia Andreli Díaz Navarro, Luis Gabriel Mateo Mejía

This text presents a diagnosis about reading and writing process and its influence in the Engineering students from the Tecnológico Superior P’urhépecha. In this context, several situations that expose the deficient quality in the academic writings are being observed. There are a lot of elements that contribute to this problem. However, in this case, it is our intention to approach the writing and reading as a learning intervening process, with the purpose of identifying where it belongs so it can be inserted as part of the Engineering degrees curricular plan.

There are some Institutions, like the one mentioned above, that lack a conciliatory project in their plans of study. In this scenario, it can be suggested to incorporate Writing and Reading as a complementary course. By this means, it is expected to take a first step in these sorts of investigations that would lead to improve the educational quality in these institutions. Besides, it is also proposed that all those who are involved in this process make a critical reflection about their own educative quality.
