Angélica Kleen Delgado y Ada Campos

Since the twentieth century, the educational field has numerous scientific studies, that have proven that the approach towards arts cultivate in the human being a sensitivity that takes them to develop and increase values, the ability of self-awareness, establish better ways to communicate with others, besides playing an important role in physical and emotional development. Specifically, the presence of dance in people’s life has allowed establishing new communication and interaction channels, acting too as an emotional and expression catalyst.

When a student explores the possibilities of movement and takes conscience of his body, he accomplishes a better connection with his own senses and interior, which allows recognizing and achieving a better bond between his body, mind and spirit. It also encourages a positive change is his conduct, attitude, behavior, habits and self-esteem. For these reasons, the Dance Management of the UNAM designed a teaching method focused on attending the cognitive and emotional aspect of the students, through the contact with arts, particularly with dance and music, bringing through this means higher possibilities of learning how to learn.
