ABSTRACT

Digital Fabrication in Architecture: Techniques, Resources and Material Knowledge

Ana Teresa Robles González

Digital fabrication in architecture was developed by the study of craft and industrial fabrication methods, (automobile and aerospace industries) in order to adapt them and create techniques that could help materialize complex 3D designs. This article describes five different fabrication techniques, CNC machines and materials for the physical development of a digital model.

With this methods, it is given to the designer a perspective of digital fabrication with examples, advantages, disadvantages and machinery that can be used for an specific purpose, with the goal of approaching information of CNC fabrication to designers interested in materializing design proposals.

Keywords: CAD/CAM, digital fabrication, techniques, materials.
