ABSTRACT

Design and management of the diploma in Basics competences for teaching of natural sciences online

Ricardo Manuel Antonio Estrada Ramírez, Carlos Francisco De la Mora Mondragón & Cristina Rueda Alvarado

With the main goal to develop activities oriented to updating and training teachers from elemental and high school education, this diploma was developed to address the educational needs in physics, chemistry and biology.
Using a virtual classroom, we proposed the design of this diploma to help the teaching- learning processes and assessment of natural sciences, understanding that the contents will influence the education of basic scientific culture in teachers.
The methodology was based in the creation of eight weekly modules with a total of 170 effective hours. The design of the modules was proposed through three axes: one didactic-disciplinal, other socio-philosophical and the last one of integration of diploma labor.
It is worth noting that although the diploma is targeted to practicing teachers, it is also a choice to obtain a bachelor’s degree for students of the Faculty of Chemistry of the National Autonomous Mexican University.
Lastly, although a previous knowledge of using communication and information technologies is desired, the diploma has a module to acquaint teachers on the use of a virtual classroom.
