ABSTRACT

Material Heritage of Humanity: Route of the Convents... Spaces for Culture, Recreation and Life

Norma Angélica Juárez Salomo

In an effort to understand how the convent spaces influenced the educational and evangelizing action of the colonial era in Mexico, and especially in the State of Morelos, the present article emphasizes the importance of insisting on the appreciation and historical recognition of the mentioned buildings in the contemporary era. This work evokes moments that invite us to explore the spaces mentally and imagine the way indigenous and religious lived in atriums, chapels, patios, gardens and orchards, serving as scenarios for the introduction of new knowledge related to religion, botany, cooking or art for example, and also reflects on the importance of making convents spaces for culture, recreation and life.
