Under the sign of the solar star: migration, astronomy and rock art in the Sierra Madre Occidental, Mexico

In the Sierra Madre Occidental of Mexico, a unique integration of elements occupies the same
place: a monumental ceremonial center, a so-called Teotihuacan "astronomical markers" and a
comprehensive set of engravings. It brings light on the role of the Teotihuacan astronomical knowledge
in the Mesoamerican expansion northward at around 600 A.D., illustrates the beliefs and rituals that
accompanied these migratory flows of the Chalchihuites culture, and we detail the map of affinities and
exchanges of ideas and images were woven across the with of the vast Mesoamerican northern area.
