ABSTRACT

Digital library to preserve and disseminate the food culture in Mexico

Erika María Méndez Martínez & Ana Karen Vázquez Hernández

As part of the bibliographic research that has been developing since mid-2014 within the line “Culinary history: cultural processes of food”, currently attached to the project Food and culture in Mexico of the DEAS-INAH, there has been opportunity to recognize the situation of the digital resources as well as of the information that is generated in the field of food culture in Mexico, among other points, the access to it, its preservation and diffusion.
The main objective of this work is to present the progress of the project of creating a digital library specialized in food culture in Mexico, in order to preserve and disseminate the knowledge generated by specialists in the field. We agree that among other things this project should be an “open access” digital media that should enable students, academics, researchers and public in general the easy search and access to the subject.
