ABSTRACT

Technical and operative challenges when using Moodle, considerations from continuous teacher training experience and classrooms at the UNAM

Miguel Zúñiga González

The operation of a Learning Management System (LMS) implies technical and communication skills from everyone involved, in technical support as in classroom learning monitoring. When operating an LMS, it’s necessary to understand it’s technological and human requirements, what additional application can be incorporated and how to define an upgrade plan that includes continuous training and understanding of the digital skills level that each group of users has when they accesses the classroom. The teacher is the main ally and the engine of change, but to make the most of technology, everybody has to work in team, from students to managers, from administrative to support staff, as an LMS is a long-term commitment, in which everyone influences to its success or failure.
