ABSTRACT
In this article, the romance chivalry novel Don Quijote is treated as a book that rescues the narrative models of the early decades of the sixteenth century as an entertainment book as well as the innovative work that makes humor the base of the story. In this work, Cervantes provides a new model of narrative prose, a prose that would later be known as the modern novel.
