ABSTRACT
One of the most important topic characters of chivalric literature is the woman, who is in love with the protagonist. Commonly, its full description is often overlooked because of its complexity and its -in appearance- secondary role within the argument of the novels. This paper attempts to list some characteristic features of the woman beloved by the knight. Considering their medieval origin, they will be addressed from three spheres of influence: social, cultural and narrative; each one represent this character as a dame, ladyship, and beloved friend, respectively.
