This paper reveals the necessity to transform the teaching-learning process in the Academic Program of the Bachelor in Architecture of the Michoacan University (FAUM) of San Nicolas de Hidalgo, Mexico, into one that is more practical and committed to society. For this reason, the 2014-2020 Development Plan of the FAUM, the missions and vissions of the University and the Faculty, the profile of the Michoacan University Architect, some student experiences and various progressive pedagogical movements were reviewed, concluding that the students are benefited in their personal and professional fields, if they have the opportunity to collectively produce useful material objects to society, and if they provide their professional services inspired by the highest values of the Michoacan University.
