Abstract

What is our relationship with our menstrual flow? Has it happened to you that you feel embarrassed when someone realizes that you have a tampon or a sanitary pad? Well, this is not a coincidence. The attitudes and ideas that we have about this process result from social constructions beyond the biological, and that is what I will talk to you about today. I want us to chat as friends and I want to show you my research, in which I found that the duration of menstrual flow increases with meat consumption and the use of disposable products (compared to eco-friendly ones). Of course, I also present some health and environmental impacts worth considering. So go grab a cup of tea or coffee and get ready, because today we’ll talk about menstruation!

Actualmente está en proceso de titulación de la Licenciatura en Ciencias Ambientales, en la Escuela Nacional de Estudios Superiores (ENES), Unidad Morelia de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). El trabajo de tesis que está desarrollando en el Instituto de Investigaciones en Ecosistemas y Sustentabilidad (IIES) se titula: “Influencia del consumo de productos de origen animal y el tipo de producto de gestión menstrual en la duración del flujo menstrual”, que considera las posturas del ecofeminismo, antiespecismo, liberación animal, feminismo queer y el ambiente como sistema complejo.
