Menstrual pain and endometriosis: From normal to disease

Years ago, it was considered normal for a woman to have pain during menstruation; The recommendations were putting a hot water bottle on your belly, resting and drinking tea. Unfortunately, the misconceptions of: “it will go away when you get married or have children” persist. There are biological and environmental factors that exacerbate this condition, which triggers complications unknown to women, going from what is socially accepted as normal menstrual pain to abnormal menstruation or endometriosis, a disease in which environmental, biological, immunological, and psychological factors are involved, and that merits the personalized study of each patient. Therefore, in this article we will explore how period pain is not normal.
