Abstract

The need of eight hours of sleep has taken relevance today, partly because it has been found that sleep deprivation has a link with increased metabolic diseases type such as diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular diseases and disorders of affective nature.. The lifestyle that we have for decades has caused sleep is not given the importance it deserves, we consume caffeine or other of stimulants to stay awake late into the night, leaving last sleep. Sleep deprivation may be related to diabetes mellitus and how this metabolic disease can cause a type of dementia such as Alzheimer's, is not a simple work, however there are now data in which a causal association between sleep deprivation demostrated hyperglycemia causes blood and how it is linked to cognitive deficits. This article explains through studies in humans and animals, the relationship between sleep deprivation and diabetes, and like diabetes can cause Alzheimer-type dementia.
