Biological collections have a high biological, ecological and cultural value, because they have helped us to understand and describe biodiversity worldwide. The Colección Nacional de Mámiferos (cnma) is the most complete collection of mammals in Latin America, in terms of the diversity of species housed; this collection has the greatest number of specimens from throughout the Mexican Republic and some parts of the world. The cnma has an extensive collection of specimens from the State of Chihuahua with a good geographic coverage, available to the academic community to carry on research and to have a more accurate approach about the variety of organisms that can be found in the state’s ecosystems.
