Hydrocarbons: pollution at the Mexican Caribbean
Keywords:
Mexican Caribbean, pollution, hydrocarbon, ecosystemsAbstract
The Mexican Caribbean is a region of great importance biologically and economically. It consists of very important and delicate coastal/marine ecosystems such as mangroves, seagrass beds and coral reef. Furthermore, they serve as tourist attractions, mitigate climate events and are sustain or refuge of a wide variety of species, all of which make these ecosystems a key piece for Mexican Caribbean conservation. Hydrocarbon pollution, product of human activity, is a problem for ecosystems and public health in the region, reason why we must be aware of the importance of aquatic ecosystems and the impact of hydrocarbons in Mexican Caribbean.
