Carabid beetles are a diverse family of coleopterans, being one of the most popular and fascinating groups in terms of morphology and evolution. These insects play a vital role in various ecosystems due to their lifestyle habits, making them a fundamental resource for ecological and forestry studies. This work presents, in a clear and concise manner, the origin of carabid beetles, their global and national abundance, distinctive morphological characteristics, behavioral patterns, and ecological relevance. The main objective is to provide a comprehensive overview of the knowledge about this group of beetles.
