Transformation in teaching practice before and after SUMEM

A seminar is an educative approach towards teaching and working collectively in any particular disciplinary field, in order to study different aspects of a problem; consequently, carries out action research with solution schemes, through an effective and gradual ideas exchange process. This paper aims to share experiences and reflections generated by participating in the University Seminar for the Improvement of Mathematics Education (SUMEM for its acronym in Spanish) of the National Autonomous University of Mexico, in order to make explicit changes in teaching practice and in other academic environments. A personal learning process is described in a mathematical environment, as well as portrays experiences in which teachers, students and seminar members actively participate in the improvement of the teaching task.
