Study and work in times of pandemic: shared experiences
Keywords:

This text addresses the situation that some young people faced during the covid-19 pandemic, having to combine their studies with work and risking their lives and education. In this context, the Faculty of Nursing at the Universidad Veracruzana (uv) implemented the Comprehensive Student Training Support Program (pafi), which offered tutoring to reduce the risk of student failure and dropout, especially during the pandemic. As teachers, we feel the responsibility to support and motivate at-risk students through various strategies. This text emphasizes the importance of teaching practice and critical reflection to face special situations, as illustrated by a case study that shows the fundamental role of educators in the training and support of students who are in a double-risk situation: being a student and worker at the same time. These young people must contribute to their households’ economy while fulfilling their academic obligations, such as attending classes, doing homework and activities, and submitting work on time for evaluation and approval.
